2018 A new exciting year!

As this year comes to an end, what a good year we have been blessed with.  We have such a wonderful family, friends and a wonderful place to live! God has been so good to us!
It is always exciting, but a little scary to go into a new year...a new chapter of our lives.  I pray for good health and safety for all more than anything.  The world is in a fast changing pace, and it leaves you a little dizzy at times, trying to figure out what might be next.  Thanks to all that have followed my blogs this year. I have been so behind, but it's because I have been in one of those slumps that people often fall into.  I think it is mainly due to so many dr. visits, back and forth and is hard to settle down and concentrate. I pray this new year will be better in every way for us all.
2018 will be an adventuresome year.
I plan on teaching each month, plus some workshops.  In March I will be going to Las Cruses NM  to teach watercolor for 3 days, then in May I will be going to Dallas, TX to teach Collage.  THEN...in October I will be going to Italy to teach. I am so excited.  There is room for a couple more if anybody wants to come go experience the wonderful Tuscany landscape with us! If so, contact me, and I will send contact info.  Thank you again for reading and viewing what is going on with my art!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Colors of Life Show in Keller, TX

I was honored to be asked to  hang some of my collages in Keller, TX, which is in Ft.Worth, TX.
I took 66 pieces.  I borrowed some back from friends and family because I wanted to have a big show!

Here are some highlights and fun from the show.  The first one is my favorite! Our great grandson looking at the sign!  It was so exciting to have my grand-kids walk in and surprise me! I didn't know they were coming.  Some of my art friends came, and we had a fun time visiting.
It was a very special time.

Saddle Shop

This is from Post Texas. An old building with a mural painted on one side. Bars on the windows and doors!  I tried it with pouring my watercolor and it got so dark it was ruined, so I used some gouache to turn it into a night scene. It is 18x24 framed.

Dead Vehicle Challenge

James Gurney posted a challenge...Paint a dead vehicle. One that doesn't run. Car or truck.
I wanted to do this old vehicle for a while so I set up there and did it.  It had to be painted on location, and you had to post a photo of your easel, etc.  This old international is in Plains, TX.
I started out trying to use oils but I don't paint enough with oil to know what to do, so I ended up using a sketchbook, and drawing it with my fountain pen and ink, then painted with watercolor and a little gouache.

I am still working on some AG collages for the 2018 Calendar.  This little piggy was fun to do.  He's taking the time to smell the 'flowers' as well as have a little nibble!
This is 9x12 on stretched canvas mixed media/collage.  Paint and magazine pages.

Watercolor Workshop

I just finished a 4 day workshop. It was a lot of fun. Lots of hard work.
I had 10 signed up and due to illness, etc. 3 dropped out. So we had 7 really great fun artists all painting their own style using my drawing.  I never did get photos of theirs.

The first picture I did before workshop then I painted one along with them.
There were 2 from Arizona, and 1 from San Antonio area, and 4 from Lubbock.

The black one has a new home.

I was acceptd into the New Mexico watercolor society show again this year. It will be in Las Cruces NM instead of Albuquerque NM The theme ...
