Summer Time

Living on the farm makes you realize how much you need and love tractors! The sound, the smell, the memories! Not to mention we have John Deere tractors. What a wonderful life it is on the farm, even in the really hard years you still love it.  We live on the Powell Family farm, and live in the farm house that was put here in 1954.  I have loved living here even though I wasn't raised on the farm.  It has been a wonderful life raising our 2 kids!

Memories of our Mom's

as did Ken's Mom but Kens did a lot of cut work embroidery.  This was poured with liquid acrylic.

Live Your Passion

I found the quote "live your passion' and it made me think of all the farmers I know. They are so passionate about their land,  equipment, and their crops.

This is done with torn/cut paper from magazines.  It is 12"x24" on a stretched canvas. It is available for a new home!

 ‘Daisies for Mom’

This painting was accepted into SWA in Ft. Worth, Texas. This photo belonged to a young Mom. Her sweet little boys have ponies and ride all the time. One of them picked the daisies for her. I asked her for permission to paint it. I just love this photo! This year because of COVID they allowed us to use other photos.

I have been so behind on posting new work. I have been painting ...

The Singer

This man was Lauries Goldstein-Warren's  photo.  She is teaching the online course.  For me it is hard to copy some one else's drawing. I wanted to follow along step by step.

The Blue Shirt

So far this has to be my favorite. I used a stencil to draw the design on his shirt. This is acrylic. Poured. We are still only using gold, red, 2 blues, and black. It has helped me a lot to concentrate on what happens when you paint mixes instead of depending on using so many colors in my palette.
I took this photo at our neighbors branding day. All of these are for sale.  They are 15x22 unframed.

French's Bargains

I took this photo in Nashville, one year when we got stranded there.  This is an  Acrylic Pour.  I am beginning to really like the acrylic! With watercolor you can make a mess because it lifts.  The acrylic doesn't.

Cabo Guitar

I took his photo in Cabo. He was walking around playing wanting tips.  I 'think' this was my first acrylic.  I kept putting it off because I had not used it.

More Portraits

I enjoy doing portraits, even though I know nobody wants them hanging on their walls!
The cowgirl and forest ranger were in Wyoming, and the young girl was at a demo that I was doing several years ago, and she allowed me to take her photo.

New Work

I have been working pretty hard trying to improve on my painting. I wish it wouldn't take so long! I have so much to learn.
I started an 8 week  online class  with Laurie Goldstein Warren and have enjoyed it a lot.
We have 2 online demos a week and once a week a zoom meeting. We are using liquid watercolors or acrylic. Our choice.  All of these are watercolor.  If you paint or want to learn, she is an awesome teacher, mentor and friend.

The Church sold and that is exciting when someone likes your work enough to pay for it!  I will be selling all of these for the same price. They are big. They will frame out about 22x28 or 30x32 'ish'.

A little Birdie Told Me

This is our daughter when she was 6-7 years old. I have had this photo for a long time. I always loved it, because she is such a caring 'take care of' person. She was then and is still that way. They found this little bird in the yard and she was so careful in holding it, and wanting to take care of it. It is funny that I remember that day, and I remember her little blue summer outfit.  Maybe that's why we take so many photos, to help us remember. I regret that we didn't have a good camera 'back then'.  Families are so lucky now.  They can take a photo every day. What a blessing.
