Summer Time

Living on the farm makes you realize how much you need and love tractors! The sound, the smell, the memories! Not to mention we have John Deere tractors. What a wonderful life it is on the farm, even in the really hard years you still love it.  We live on the Powell Family farm, and live in the farm house that was put here in 1954.  I have loved living here even though I wasn't raised on the farm.  It has been a wonderful life raising our 2 kids!

Crazy Cactus

Here is another collage, watercolor that I am experimenting with.  You can find these on Daily Paintworks for sale.

Daily Paintworks

New experiment

I have been experimenting  painting flowers, and i have been adding a lot of different things to them.
I don't consider myself a flower painter so I added paper and gouache to see what it would look like.
It has been fun. I have done several.
I have posted these on 'DailyPaintworks' for Sale .
Here is the address to my art.

Prickly Pear

I have another new mixed media collage done. The greens were a little challenging!  In the spring the cactus are so pretty. They are called Prickly Pears. I took this photo with my phone and the colors aren't exact.  It is 12x24 on stretched canvas.

New MIxed Media

I did another large collage of the longhorn cow that I saw near Kerrville this summer.
I had the other one 'Lunch Time' ready for a show and I sold it, so I did another view to replace it.  It will go to Breckenridge for the Best of the Best Show.

This was very tedious and takes a while to do one like this.  It is 30x40 on stretched Canvas.
I haven't decided on a name yet.

A Fun Weekend

This weekend I had a group of ladies come and create in my little studio. There were 7 fun ladies that were excited to learn something new! It is fun to gain new friends.
Thanks Anna for getting them together and coming to Plains.

The Bee Keepers-Mixed Media

When Keri and I were in Kerrville TX in May we were leaving town headed to Fredericksburg and she spotted some bee keepers way off.  Thank goodness for zoom lenses! We stopped and I took 'several' pictures.  It was a treat to see them. See the smoke, and all the flowers and grasses. It was just a cool thing to see! I did a sketch first, and was so much fun, I wanted to do a big one. I had trouble deciding on whether to use watercolor or collage.  I chose the collage and I had a blast putting it together! I decided to go with black instead of dark greens like the sketch.
It is 18x18 on stretched canvas.
The sketch was done with Casein paint, and is 5x5.

Summer Fun

I have been invited to do a workshop with the group 'Sisters on the Fly' in October.
I am so excited to get to meet them and see their cute campers.  This is 'practice' to get ready.
It was fun but a little tedious since it is only 8x10.  The Silver didn't want to stick, so I had some issues with it, but was a fun piece to do!

Bubbles-Meet me in the Garden Series

Here is the fourth of the 'Meet me in the Garden' Series.  After doing the first one, I was hooked and wanted to do the others. These were all done from my sketches. After sketching, I scan it, and enlarge it, and then use my light box. I did all the work on the sketch. Sure makes the painting part a lot easier!
I put the close up so you could see the specks of paper that I glued down using matte medium. It almost looks like bubbles so that is why I named it...'Bubbles'.

Shopping

This is a silly Manikin at a store in Lubbock, TX. Their name is 'Chrome'. They had a lot of different and fun stuff! They are on 19th Street if you are in this area, and want to visit!  They also have some of the very weird shoes!
I had so much fun doing this! I have some more views, dressed differently so there will probably be some more coming!  This is mixed media, using the phone book pages first, done on hot press paper...Then painted with Gouache and collaged with scrapbook paper.

T-Bone

T-Bone is our daughters Jack Russel mix. He is one precious little dog, but very hateful at times! He bites anybody he doesn't know, plus people he DOES know.  Keri ask me a while back to do his portrait, so here it is! He was being nice when she took this picture!  It is 12x12, using magazine pages.
