I have been experimenting with under paintings, and on this one I looked at a piece of fabric, and drew the small flowers . The fabric had large and small flowers, so I I drew them in all over the whole paper, then painted them with Quin coral (A Daniel Smith color) along with some yellows, and greens.I have found that the under painting needs to be in your mid tone range. After I got the flowers painted on, I took my flamingo drawing and positioned them where I wanted the flowers to end up. The other flamingos I did, had the blue background, but in the photo that I took, it had the green water, and the greenery behind it, so I thought I would try the green color and liked the outcome.

This was done with another under painting.  I enjoyed doing it so much, I have done another view of them, and plan on doing another one.  Ken (my husband named it) I had another name, but when he saw it, he said that looks like a Fashion Statement to me! I thought that was a  good name for it.

I looked up Flamingos and these are Chilean Flamingos. They are mainly white with some pink.

While Keri and I were in Philadelphia, we went to China Town and walked around.  This is one of the paintings from the trip.  Hopefully I will have some more!

I had such fun painting this! I took one view of my photo, and turned it into 3. I have an under painting of flowers and leaves underneath, and the flowers ended up on their mouths, so i left them. It is entered in the West Texas Watercolor Society show in Lubbock.

This was another painting that i did at Ceta Canyon Art Retreat.

It is from a photo I took in Cloudcroft New Mexico.

I loved the windows with the hollyhocks 

and thought it needed to be painted!

I painted this at our Ceta Canyon art retreat.  It was taken from a photo of a junk pile in Cloudcroft, NM with other stuff around, and the were weeds grown up. After critiques from the group, I did away with some of the other junk in the photo,(that I had painted in) and focused on the two pair of shoes.The pieces of wood in the back probably should have been left out too. I had fun painting the shoes anyway!

This was taken from a photo that I took in Philadelphia. 

He was statue holding a menu, and a sign at a restaurant.  I had already painted the paper with an under painting, so I put him on top of it.This was also done at the art retreat in Ceta Canyon.
