Memorial Day 2015

This painting was poured. I ended up croppig it because I wanted the focus on the flag and window.  Pouring watercolor makes you think! Knowing what to mask and when is hard!

The little camper was in New Mexico. I took this photo several years ago and just wanted to sketch it yesterday, in honor of Memorial Day.

The old barn is behind our house.  It is over 60 years old, and is falling down! Due to the wonderful rains, the sunflowers are growing like crazy back there.

Sketchbook Workshop-June 12-13

We will have a sketchbook workshop June 12-13.  Keeping a sketchbook will help you learn so much about drawing. I have room for 10-12 in my Studio. Let me know if you are interested in joining us. The cost is $60 for both days.  You can just do one day if you can't make both. Sketching is so much fun! The first day I plan on working inside and on the second, go out and sketch out doors. Now that is really fun!
email me if you are interested.  All you really need is a good sketchbook, a pen, small watercolor palette if you want color! I like to use water soluble markers too.  We will cover the different kinds of things you can use.

Workshop with Linda Baker

These are the colors we used this week in a workshop with Linda Baker.  We mixed up little containers and poured our paint.  It was a great week.  Cheap joes furnished our paint, which was really neat! I did a value study sketch first, then I enlarged the sketch. The Painting is 1/2 sheet, on arches watercolor paper.  We used a lot of Pebeo miskit.

On Ice

This was a fun watercolor! I used a size 38 brush, which is huge,
but it kept me from being too picky with putting the color down.
After I painted it and it was dry,
I used a bamboo calligraphy pen and using waterproof ink,
drew the black lines.  16x20 with a mat and frame.

I found out this past week that 'The Cowgirl' was juried into the 49th Annual Richardson Civic Art Society Regional Art Exhibition and show in Richardson, TX.  The show and sale is May 1-May 26th. It is always exciting and an honor to be chosen to be in a show.

The Nursery

This is a new collage. It is 12x24 stretched canvas.
I used an oriole nest that was in our tree to look at.

The first photo was part of the drawing to start off with. The collage below is some of the progression photos. The last photo is hopefully finished.
