Sunday Best

 Sunday Best and Burlap Boot.

I am till preparing for the upcoming workshop in Midland TX next week.
I got a photo of a pair of boots as they were being made in San Angelo, TX at Letty's Boot Company. They let us walk around in the back and take pictures while they were working on all their boots.  It was awesome to see how they worked.
The burlap Boot was an experiment, trying to come up with a fast-er demo.
I bought the burlap canvas with the white paint on it. and I left it plain.

I haven't given it a name yet! Right now...'Cowboy Boot'.
It is 6x12.
I am teaching in Midland TX, March 8-10 and April 29-30 here in my studio. If interested, drop me a  note.  suzy_pal2000@yahoo.com

Torn Paper Collage
12" x 12" on gallery wrapped canvas

These two boot paintings are on their way to the 2010 6th Annual 12BUY12 Juried Art
Show at the Austin Art Space Gallery & Studios, Austin, Texas." Floral Spurs"
and "Lone Star Spurs" were accepted into the show juried by Carl McQueary who curates exhibits at the Austin Museum of Art and Laguna Gloria. You can view last year's opening party on their web site at www.AustinArtSpace.com or you are invited to attend the Opening Reception Saturday, November 20, 2010 (5-9 PM) at 7739 Northcross Drive, Suite Q, Austin, TX 78757. The show dates are November 16-December 18.

A friend, Nancy Standlee also got 2 in the show. Be sure and visit her blog to see her Mr. Rooster, and Good Coffee. Nancy paints a lot of her own paper, and I use nothing but magazine pages, and sometimes a little acrylic.

I saw these floral boots in a well known boot company in San Angelo, TX and they were kind enough to let me photo their shop where they make and repair boots. It was an awesome experience! They were so nice to talk to me, and let me take all kinds of pictures of their boots!
When I saw these floral boots, I knew immediately which pair I wanted!

Pink Boot

'Pink Boot'
12x12
Torn Paper Collage

I started this a couple weeks ago, and just couldn't get it to work,so I put it up. Had planned on sending it to Austin for the show there. I got it out on wed. and reworked the back ground..a woman called from Lubbock asking if I had a painting I could donate to the Texas tech cancer research auction,(this next week)
so I am sending this. I already had the pink breast cancer ribbon on it with out even thinking about it going for this.
Isn't it great how God works? I was going to send it to Austin.(and I wasn't supposed to!)
He always amazes me, at some of the things He allows me to do with my art work!
There are several people in our families, and friends who have battled and are still battling this horrible disease. I pray that someday there will be a cure for it.

Lone Star

'Lone Star'
12 x 12 canvas
This is another Torn paper collage, with very little acrylic, mainly for a shadow.
This is also for the Austin Show, and I made sure Austin showed on the Texas map.
Not that it would matter, but somebody might like it on there! I tried to make it more
masculine, not so 'girl-ee.'

New Spurs Series

'Texas Spurs'
Sold

'New Spurs 4'
'Floral'
'New Spurs 3'

There is a show in Austin so I thought I would do some boots for that. The work has to be 12 x 12. I normally don't paint for shows, but thought the boots would be fun to send, plus mixed media is accepted. These are also torn paper. There is very little paint on them. I just decided since I have done 3 ,I would just call them a series.

Lubbock Arts Festival

The West Texas watercolor society always paints small works to sell.  This is a wonderful art get together. It is coming up in April.  thi...
