Incite 4-Relax. Restore. Renew

Wow I am so behind on posting, but I haven't gotten to paint in a while now.  The holidays, etc come first sometimes!  We had an awesome Christmas time with our family, and hope you did too!
As long as we have our families, friends and health we are so rich!

I just got an email from North Light Book Club saying I had been selected for their new Incite 4 Book. Relax, Restore and Renew is the theme.  I entered 3 of my collage campers, and they chose 2.
Both of these pieces have been sold.

This will probably be the last post of 2015! I can't believe how fast the time has gone by.
Thanks for checking in on what I paint and what is going on with my 'art life'.
I will be teaching the 3rd Friday's of the month, and hopefully a couple of workshops.
Collage and sketching. If you are interested, drop me a line.

Happy New Year to everybody,
and may your 2016 be healthy and happy!

Ruffles and Rust Show

I decided to have a booth at the Ruffles and Rust Christmas show in Lubbock, TX.  That was a big job getting a lot of my Christmas stuff there.  I took some paintings and prints but my little snow people ornaments did better! i have painted SO many of these this year! Such fun though!

I Am an Artist!

This past week we had our last lesson for 2015. Seems weird that this years is almost gone -again.
We had such fun. It is fun to just make a statement! Why is it hard to call ourselves 'Artist?'
We used acrylics and stretched canvas. Just painting what we felt..or liked!
I got this idea from a friend who graciously let us use her idea! The stencil is from Donna Downey.

Te weather was perfect and we had a lot of friends to come and see my new little studio.  We had some fun refreshments and lots of art, especially Christmas art!  Thanks to those who bought some of my work.
It is always an honor when someone wants to buy what I create!

Small Copies

I had some reproductions made of 6 images. I wanted them for the Petticoats on the Prairie show but they didn't come in in time.  I am going to the Ruffles and Rust Show in December and will take them to that.  If you are interested in one, you can let me know.
They would make inexpensive art gifts.
They are $15.00 plus Shipping. Right now I don't know how much that would be.
These are on stretched canvas.
And are 2 1/4" deep.

NMWS Show

The New Mexico Watercolor Society Show just opened yesterday in Albuquerque, NM.
I got word that I won an award last week. I am so honored to even be in the show much less get an award! The woman in charge of the show sent me a photo because we couldn't make it to the reception.  This is a poured painting from a sketch I did.

Day 30

Well, the 30 days have come and gone! At times it seemed slow, but then it really passed fast.
This gate looked so old! it was worn, rough, splitting and discolored. I couldn't tell what the people were.
I wish I could talk to the owners of that gate! I would love to see behind it.
Santa Fe, NM is an old town, so there's no telling how old it really is.

Thanks for taking the time to view my paintings for 30 days!
this is 6x9 and can be purchased at this address.

Day 29

Wow! One more day.  It really did pass way too fast.  I loved this gate because of the bright colors.
It is different than the others but such a great blue!

Day 28

This building ended up reminding me of a camper! I guess the shape it ended up being.
I still wonder what the adobe is like on the inside.

Day 27

Only a few days left.  This gate was at the end of a street.  A dead end. I couldn't tell what was behind it, but it was a cool gate anyway! This is 5x7-Available at:

Day 25 Santa Fe Gates and Doors

Day 25 is a little different! It has a gate, but also an added extra.  I just couldn't let this pic go unpainted.  As a person who loves old pickups it needed to be recorded too.

This is 8x10 on gessobord, and is available at:

Day 23-Santa Fe Gates and Doors

This was a fun painting to do.  It is 6"x12' on gessobord.  Trees are a challenge for me, being from West Texas where there are very few trees it makes it harder.  You need to know a little bit about the subject to paint it. Available at this address.

Day 22 Santa Fe Gates and Doors

This was my least favorite gate that I saw while in Santa Fe, and was
worried about painting it since it was white,
but I like the way it turned out. I liked the blue colored gates!
I added some stuff because I thought it needed 'something'.
This is 6x9 acrylic on Gessobord and is available at this address:

Day 21 Santa Fe Gates and Doors

Well, Day 21 is nearly over and I am just now getting through with it!  Is so hard to keep up when you have other things to do, but I am staying with it.  I don't know if it is getting easier or harder.
Anyway, September 30 is getting here fast!

This is 5x7 on gessobord. and available at this address, or through me.

Santa Fe #20

I love the setting around this blue gate..not to mention the great blue color.
Also the number on the post was interesting! I feel like I sort of turned the page with the acrylic technique.  I have not liked acrylics for some reason.  I couldn't' keep them wet,
had to keep putting them out, etc. and I thought if I did the 30 day challenge with acrylic, it might help me appreciate them and learn more about using them.
I do like the dried finished look of it.  It is very convenient for it to dry so fast.
It dawned on me after yesterdays painting that you have to just block in colors, no detail.
You keep painting it over and over, and then you get to the detail at the end.  I think I was trying for detail immediately and it just won't work, at least not for me.  I also didn't realize they were so transparent.  You have to keep going back to get coverage, and I am using mostly the heavy body paint.  This definitely had been quite a challenge for me!
I am glad I chose the acrylics for the challenge.

These can be purchased here:

Santa Fe #19

Here is the sketch and the painting.  I might prefer the sketch!  I apologize for the blank page you got...if you did.  I bumped the key board and off it went! The painting is 6x9.
It is available at this address:

Day 18

This was a hard painting for me. It took me all day! I had some new boards and had to do something to give it some tooth so it wouldn't be so slick.  This is larger too, than what I have been painting on.
It is 6x12".  I also added the sketch and the photo that I used.  i changed up the background. It had too much green for me!

All of my gates and doors are availabe at this address...along with some other art.

Santa Fe #17

This is the church at Chimayo, NM.  Is in the Santa Fe Area.  A well known church there.
People from all over go just to see it.  I wanted to mainly show the gate, so one side of the bell tower is left out. This is a beautiful place to be.  The back is very interesting too. Lots and lots of crosses hanging everywhere. all over the fences and columns. People leave them there with their loved ones names and prayers on them.  Chimayo has a wonderful place to eat too!
This is 9x6 on gessobord.
All of my Gates and Doors will be available at this address, as well as other art.
