This is a silly Manikin at a store in Lubbock, TX. Their name is 'Chrome'. They had a lot of different and fun stuff! They are on 19th Street if you are in this area, and want to visit! They also have some of the very weird shoes!
I had so much fun doing this! I have some more views, dressed differently so there will probably be some more coming! This is mixed media, using the phone book pages first, done on hot press paper...Then painted with Gouache and collaged with scrapbook paper.
This is a blog of my art journey. It has been such fun, and God has blessed me with art. If you want updates of my posts, fill in your email address below. The Roswell Daily Record
I entered the juried art show in Roswell, NM.
The Roswell Fine Arts League (RFAL)
They accepted three of my paintings. Two Watercolors, and one of my collages. The newspaper called and interviewed me about the old truck that I painted. There were 2 other interviews in the paper from other artists
Last year at our art show, our rancher neighbor and friend came in to see the show, and I ask him if I could go out to his ranch and take photos of his horses and cows. Of course he said yes, and I went out that afternoon, and when I drove up,
this old truck greeted me! I loved it, and took more pictures of it than I did of the cows! I just love the old vehicles, and the way they look! They have such character. The opening reception is August 16th in Roswell, NM.

Workshop in Lubbock
This past week end we had a 2 fun days in Lubbock! There were 9 there, and we had so much fun tearing up paper, and creating. It is such a blessing to see people's creativity come out. Everybody does things so different. They all see color differently, and that makes it interesting.

The Flute Player by Suzy 'Pal' Powell
14x22
cold press arches 140lb paper
transparent watercolor
I took a photo of this man waiting for the ferry to go see the Statue of Liberty.
He was playing the Battle Hymn of Republic, over and over....and over!
This one is on Arches Cold Press 140, and I drew him twice in my drawing pad. The first one I wasn't happy with, so I took the time to redraw. Then I transferred it using my light box. It is 14x22 and has the white background. I don't know if I will ever paint it our not. I really liked the all white paper behind him. I go from one extreme to the other. this is transparent watercolor. His beard is the white of the paper except for a few hairs. I ended up using a tiny bit of gouache.
10x10
hot press paper with gouache
I did this one first, just experimenting with hot press paper. I have never liked hot press, but have a new respect for it, after playing with this one.

Montage Restaurant
15x22 unframed
I did some more work on the Chef, added some more blue to the right side, and added to the menu. I don't have a clue where this restaurant is! I found some copied menus in my stash of paper, and this was in it...so that is why the name. As far as I know right now, I am calling him finished! He was fun to do! It is mixed media because of the phone book pages, that were glued down first with matte medium. The Background is Matisse Acrylic.
The rest is gouache and collage.
