A couple of weeks ago, I got letter from a young lady from Lubbock (80 miles away), asking me if I would mentor her and help her with her Sr. project. Of course I said Yes!
She definitely is an artist! You can tell my her drawing on the bottom left corner, plus her torn paper collage that she did all on her own on the right, in the middle.
I was so excited to see what she did with just a little bit of instructions from a meeting the day I went to school to meet her. I am ask to spend at least 6 hours with her. She plans on doing 2 more collages, getting larger canvases as she goes. I met with her last week in her family's art studio, and she started her second collage. She plans on doing an 18x24 for her largest. Possibly of her little sister. I had such fun, we visited glued and talked about art! Value, color, etc. All those fun things to discuss!
In April I will go back to the school and meet with her supervisors. We still have another meeting.
I am looking forward to meeting with her again. She is a delight to be around, such a sweetie. I hope someday to see her wonderful works of art in a big show!
