Wild Flowers

This painting "Wild Flowers" is just 9"x12" unframed.
Several years ago I took a photo of these little yellow wild flowers, in a pasture across the road from a friends house.  They were solid along the fence line, and so happy and cheerful looking. The flowers are pretty small, and grow in big clumps. I painted it with transparent watercolors, and was not happy with it.  The back ground was a real deep blue, and dark green, so I dug out the cobalt blue watercolor and mixed some white M.Graham gouache with it, and painted all the blue in leaving some of the dark showing around the edges.

More PA postcards

This is another painting, post card size that I did from our trip in PA.  This little building was beside the building in the first set. It was beside the covered bridge also.  It looked like a little guest house, or art studio. The smaller size was fun to work with. You could get it done, and move on to another one!
I have considered doing some more, from all our trips and put in an album for us to look back on!
Is easy to do several in a day.

Trip to Pennsylvania

My daughter and I went to Pennsylvania this summer, and while in the Amish Country, I took a LOT of photos of clothes lines.  They were everywhere, and I loved seeing them! These are only 4x6, postcard size.
but fun to paint anyway.  The crop in front was so tall and thick!
This little building was right beside a covered bridge.  It was so pretty there, and the flowers so bright in the sunlight!  This one is only 4x6 too.  I thought i would do these and see if I wanted to do a larger one.  I think on this one, i might move the tree over some to the right.

"Cosmos Reunion"

I love old gates, fences, etc.  Anything that is 'old looking' and when I saw this picture of Cosmos, it just spoke to me.  A friend, Pat McNabb took the photo, and offered the photo to me to paint.
I haven't entered it due to the fact that she took the photo, but I had fun painting it.
It is hanging in Grace Clinic in Lubbock, Texas.

Driving into a New Year!

"Daisy DeSoto"
A new year is here AGAIN! We are driving head on into another 12 months.  Seems as if they come faster and faster each year. My prayer for 2010 is that we will all be closer to God , our families, and friends. May you have daisies each day of this new year. They are happy and carefree.
Thanks for the friendship we have shared over the past year.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Wisemen Still Seek Him

This painting was done using a Nativity scene from the hospital.  I take pictures of everything, everywhere!
You just never know when it will come in handy! As Christmas day gets closer, I hope we focus more on what the true meaning of Christmas is.  Not just snow people and presents! It is the Birthday of our Savior!
For those who paint, this is done on watercolor paper that I put gesso on.  It gives it a lot of texture.
Then painted with watercolor.
On my cards i put "Wise Men Still Seek Him" in the right corner.
It is framed with burgundy and gold mat board in a gold frame.
