Red White and Blue Christmas

A new Christmas Card for 2016! This was fun to do.  I painted it earlier with acrylics and the basket had sunflowers so I switched it to Gifts. I guess I will always love Bicycles!
If interested in cards for this year, let me know as soon as possible.

A Fun Weekend

This weekend I had a group of ladies come and create in my little studio. There were 7 fun ladies that were excited to learn something new! It is fun to gain new friends.
Thanks Anna for getting them together and coming to Plains.

Workshop in Cloudcroft NM

I have been in Cloudcroft NM For a week taking a watercolor class from Laurie Goldstein-Warren.
It was a great and fun class. I learned a lot I hope! I hope I can paint more cityscapes and glass when I get home. These are both Half sheets.

Lunch Time

When we went to Kerrville, I got some photos of some really neat cows! This one was eating and walking along the fence.  I don't know how they keep their head up! Their horns are so big and must be heavy.  There were still a few wildflowers around too.  This is called lunch time, and if you could see it in real life you would see a couple of watches.  I like to put a watch or two in my work. This is acrylic and torn magazine pages.  It is 30"x40" on stretched canvas.  It is also available, however I plan on entering it in a show in Breckenridge Texas called 'Best of the Best'  they invite back winners from their previous shows. It isn't a juried show, you automatically get in. That is coming up in September.
Below are some of the steps as I went along.

The Bee Keepers-Mixed Media

When Keri and I were in Kerrville TX in May we were leaving town headed to Fredericksburg and she spotted some bee keepers way off.  Thank goodness for zoom lenses! We stopped and I took 'several' pictures.  It was a treat to see them. See the smoke, and all the flowers and grasses. It was just a cool thing to see! I did a sketch first, and was so much fun, I wanted to do a big one. I had trouble deciding on whether to use watercolor or collage.  I chose the collage and I had a blast putting it together! I decided to go with black instead of dark greens like the sketch.
It is 18x18 on stretched canvas.
The sketch was done with Casein paint, and is 5x5.
