Breckenridge Fine Arts 23rd Annual Juried Art Show

I found out today that I had 2 collages accepted in Breckenridge Art Show, in Breckenridge,TX.
I entered the 'Wyoming Cowboy' and 'Elegance is an Attitude'.
I wasn't sure they would accept that type of collage so I wrote to them, and the show chairman said she had not seen any like it, but yes they would accept them.  I entered 2 and both got in! There was 289 entries and they picked 125. I would love to go to the show, but will be tied up here in Plains with our show here.
The Judge is Scott Meyers.  He is also a vet. I googled his work and it is really beautiful!

The Buffet

While we were in Cabo, I saw a lot of chefs cooking, and took a lot of photos.  This was one morning at the breakfast buffet. It was out side which made it even more fun. This is watercolor but it is painted on watercolor paper coated with gesso first. I don't think I got a true color on their faces. They aren't really this dark red. This is not my normal way of painting but is fun, and I always enjoy doing something different. It is 11x15. It will be framed to 16x20.

Antique Tea Pot

This is painted from an old Tea Pot that I got at an antique store. It is done with Acrylics, because I am so allergic to Oil paint. I normally do watercolor but wanted to do something different! It is just an 8x10.

Midland,TX Demo finally finished!

This is the Demo I started while in Midland, and just finished. Sometimes it is hard to make yourself finish them. This one is sort of funny because I told them the story about my signature, and so it is on the green cup, upside down. There is also just an SP too.The story about the signature is when I was in a workshop a few years ago, the artist teaching embarrassed me so bad over my signature. Just went on and on about it. How it looks so amateur. I signed it in a hurry because he told us to bring our work up and to be sure and sign it. Well, I just put my name, and didn't put it in a straight line. was crooked. Ever since then, I worry when I sign my name. It has stuck with me.
I really enjoyed my time in Midland! The people there are great! and so welcoming!

Blue Plate

I was going through some of my older work, and found this watercolor on Yupo paper.
I framed this to hang diagonally and it is square. The yupo paper is hard to keep smooth when you are painting, but fun to work with.
I set this up, with some new dishes we had, along with some spring tulips that I bought somewhere, and I love to paint stripes. I used to paint them a lot, but lately have been onto other things!

Cupcake Series

Tumbling Cupcakes
Red and White Cupcake

I think I am nearly through with the Cupcake series. Is a challenge to come up with different views for these! Cupcakes are popular right now though, because I have seen them everywhere lately.
I am teaching a three day workshop this Wednesday through Friday in Midland, TX. I am looking forward to sharing with others, and making new friends.

Red Tea Pot

I did this a few months ago, and haven't done anything but mat it. It was done with an under painting of flower shapes, then painted over, leaving some of the original color showing. It does have some gold metallic, but it doesn't show up very good here.

Time to Eat!

Time to  Eat!
12x12

Trying to get ready for the upcoming work shop, I did another cupcake. It is not as bright as the other one, but we needed some chocolate in this one. For some reason, I noticed that I had e's on it in several places.
So I had to name it something with an 'e'.

Party Time
Torn Paper Collage

I'm getting ready for the collage workshop that will be here in Plains, July 22,23rd.  I have a couple of repeat students, so I wanted something different for them to do. This was a lot of fun to do. I have a couple spots left in the workshop, if you are interested in coming.
