Cloudcroft Art Workshops

I am excited that I was invited to go to Cloudcroft NM and teach sketching at their wonderful old building and great little town. The weather is awesome and is so refreshing to be there.
The workshop will be June 3-6. There is a reception on Sunday June 2, at 6 PM.

Watercolor and Ink Sketchbook Memories
Using your photos, pen, ink, watercolor, gouache and/or casein in the comfort of the studio you will create wonderful memory books that you and your family will treasure forever. This workshop is great for those wanting to create a sketchbook habit, or those struggling with sketching and drawing. Especially beginner sketchers. Your sketchbook style will become like your handwriting, your own personal mark. Suzy believes anybody can draw with practice, just like learning to write.

I will also furnish photos from Cloudcroft and we will work along together making a book with our photos, or you can bring your own photos and work from them.

Being married to a farmer, living on the family farm in west Texas, Suzy has been painting for 30 years working in pastel, pencil, watercolor, gouache, acrylic and collage. She didn’t attend schools that taught art. Learning on her own in her backyard studio has allowed her to teach what she loves and enjoys, in Texas, New Mexico, Italy and in 2020 Poland and Italy. Her favorite thing is keeping a daily sketchbook, and nostalgic and patriotic art. She has won numerous awards and teaches monthly watercolor classes, workshops using watercolor, collages and sketching. She has been in 3 of the North Light Incite mixed media books, as well as the Sketch Book Magazine when it was being published.
Christopher Cross, the singer, purchased one of her watercolor paintings to use on his Christmas album. She is signature members of SWS, AOT, SWA, NMWS, and WYWS. Affiliate member of AWS and NWS.

One whole month of small watercolor paintings/sketches

I found an app that I think I am going to really like.  It is 365 and it is a calendar and each day you add whatever..a photo , painting, etc.  I used it for the World Watercolor Month.

New faces

I really like drawing faces. I have filled a couple sketchbooks with them, trying to improve! The bottom 3 are done on my ipad with an apple pencil.  I used procreate app. There is so much to that app and it will take forever to learn all of it.
the first one, is pencil with her eyes painted.
The 3rd man was done using two different inks. One waterproof and one not. I wanted it to bleed to make shadows and I wanted some hard lines so I used the waterproof for that part.

Days 1-15 of 30 faces in 30 days

I am doing the 30 faces in 30 days challenge, through an app called Sktchy. Boy it has been hard! It started March 15th, and it has been very hard to keep up.  I am posting the first 15 days! Sktchy sends out a photo each morning for us to work from. It might be about a nose, or an ear, etc.
This is 1-15.

30 Day Sketchbook Challenge

I did the 30 day sketchbook challenge. This is a collage of the 30 days plus 2 days in February.
I have decided to include my sketches along with the watercolors and collages from  now on, instead of having a separate blog.  Now it will all be together.
We had a prompt for everyday. I did skip a couple days, due to not being home or not wanting to draw something weird.
I enjoyed the ones I did though!  I do love to draw while watching Television.  Drawing everyday has made such a difference!

This is from a photo I took somewhere between here and Dallas, TX.  I sketched it first using my Platinum Carbon pen, then using watercolor painted it.  It is on watercolor paper.
