Keri's Livingroom Sketch

This was done sitting on Keri's Couch. I was waiting on her, and decided to sketch that side of the room.  T-Bone was quietly chewing his bone with his legs all stretched out, and was still enough for me to capture him. (sort of).
I really love this little sketchbook. It is Strathmore Mixed Media with 90 lb paper and it paints up awesome Not one ripple or wrinkle, even painting on the backs. I have been very impressed with it.
Enough that I got an 8.5x11. That will be hard for me to fill up!
Our Sketchbook Class is this coming Friday and Saturday.  I am so excited about it!
I have room for 1-2 more if there are any takers! just let me know.

30 Day Challenge Week One

I decided not to send out a painting each day. That is too much email coming to you each day. I already posted Day 1 and 2.  This is Day 3-6.  Not sure I will be able to post one on Sunday so I will just do these for now.
The woman on the beach in NY is day 3
Lady Liberty is day 4
Brighton Beach, NY  is Day 5
Maine is Day 6 (oil)

30 Day Challenge-Trips we've taken

I Signed up for the 30 day challenge...Paint 30 Paintings in 30 days like I did in January.
I am not sure if I can do it this time but I will try.
I decided my theme 'might' be paintings from mine and my daughter's trips. Each year since 2002 we have tried to go somewhere.
This one is from Maine. It is a watercolor 5x7.

More Cloudcroft photos

The 3 day workshop was good. I realized that I really know nothing about oil painting!  Watercolors are still my first choice but it has been a good challenge for me. I signed up for the 30 day challenge again not knowing yet what I will do! Watercolor or oil?
These are the two paintings I did, along with some sketching.  The oil paintings are very beginner looking but is ok.  I am trying to do this post on my ipad so I just listed the photos.
1.morning coffee in the camper
2. Cloudcroft art sign
3.first set up and painting
4. Sketch of set up
5. Thursdays painting
6.small sketch
7. My new art friend Joy Cowan from Odessa, Tx
8. Sketch of Our supper last night.

We will head home and I will be getting ready for my sketchbook class. Am so looking forward to getting together for this.

Cloudcroft, NM

I signed up for a 3 day workshop in Cloudcroft NM starting tomorrow. We came up yesterday and brought our camper. We stopped in Artesia,NM for lunch. I drew what I could see ( not a good spot)
While we waited for our lunch. I have to admit I , think it's the first time I have drawn in a resturant. I always take photos, but never brave enough to drag out sketchbook.
Here is a picture of our lunch!
We both had the same thing. We were shocked that they didn't bring any chips and salsa!  I have never been anywhere you didn't get them if you ordered Mexican food.  They did have some awesome western art hanging on the walls though!

We got cold during the night and had to use the heater for a few minutes this morning!
If we had been home it would have been air conditioner.

Hopefully I will have a painting to post from this trip! The instructor is Qiang Huang

I can't believe I am taking an oil workshop! I am using the duo (water) oils.

More Sketches

I am still sketching something each day, and I am using a list by Danny Gregory, from his Everyday Matters list. One was a musical instrument, so I googled instruments, and found the image with the music behind it, so I did use it from Google.  The next day I got my old clarinet out, and redrew it.  I played all during jr. high and high school, and loved band!  On the top one I used my lamy safari and tombow pen. On the bottom one I used my new lamy Joy with blue black ink, that runs when wet.

The bottom sketches are some things I have done this past week.
Telephones in our house, inside of our car, and my sketch bag.

So excited about our sketchbook workshop coming up in September!
