75 Day Sketch Challenge-Day 21

Brenda Swenson, A sketch artist does this 75 day Sketch Challenge, and I decided to join in.
I started it Oct.14th, Using ink and pen only. No pencil or erasers. That is hard for me because I love my pencil! AND eraser!  Starting with just pen is very intimidating, but I am on day 21 and have enjoyed it, after the first week!
The cotton and pens were sketched from life. The flowers and pumpkins were drawn from photos.
I did the fountain pens when I saw that it was National Fountain Pen day! What a funny thing to have.
These are not in exact order because this blog thing doesn't put them on in the order you pick them! and I haven't figured out how to move them.

Sketchbook Workshop

We are having a sketchbook workshop, June 22-23rd in Plains, TX.  If you are close by and want to join us, email me, and I will give you the details.
Sketchbooks are such fun! You can be free, and just enjoy sketching and painting both.  You don't need very many supplies. a good watercolor sketchbook, a pencil, sharpie and a small watercolor kit if you want to paint it. I love sketchbooks, and have a stack that I have done over the years. Just drawing every day things around us.

Old truck drawn with a sharpie

Chef figurines drawn in sketchbook, then using watercolors

Cotton using a fine tip sharpie and watercolor

The Wash Day is a sketch I did while in Lincoln, NM. That is a wonderful place to go and sketch and paint. I have so many fun memories from being there...sitting on the street, drawing and painting their little town. If you ever sketch on location, you will be hooked forever!

Watercolor sketchbook workshop for June 22,23rd 2012

Some where near Taos, NM
Window Box in Cloudcroft, NM

This is an old post from Jan.2.  The date for the workshop is June 22nd, 23rd in Plains, TX. If you didn't get an email from me and are interested, please let me know, and I will send you the details.

Well 2012 is here. Seems like it got here really fast! I feel like it will be a busy year. I signed a contract during the Christmas Holidays, with a licensing company, Not having a clue what will come of that, but will think positive thoughts!

I have collage workshop scheduled January 20-21 in Tyler, TX.
One in Midland TX March 7-9, and one in Big Spring TX April 27-28th. I am available for others if the opportunity comes up.

I have been thinking about offering another type of workshop. For those who don't paint, or don't paint a lot, who would like to. It is using your own photos, and putting them on watercolor paper, watercolor sketch book, etc. and then you add to the photo with drawing or painting. Or if you prefer, just learning about sketch booking. They make such great pieces of art, plus is a lot of fun and very creative. The photos I added here, are from two of mine that I have done. I love sketch books! There is a freshness about them, that I can't explain. So if you love to draw, doodle, journal or want to learn more about it this would be a fun time and a time to learn. Plus if you have a lot of vacation photos, that you would like to enhance, this would be the way to do it.
I am planning on doing this sometime this summer, so if you are interested email me and let me know.

If you look at the photos I have posted, you can tell where I cut the photo out, carefully glued it down, then using watercolor painted around it~continuing the view.

Sketch Books-Tulip and Quilt

This is another watercolor sketch I found in one of my older books. I still love the way the sketches look. They seem to have a 'free-er' style than a painting. This one doesn't have the black ink lines like some that I do.

Lubbock Arts Festival

The West Texas watercolor society always paints small works to sell.  This is a wonderful art get together. It is coming up in April.  thi...
